AN EYE FOR AN EYE WILL MAKE THE WHOLE WORLD BLIND

Awesome new Month of October and am delighted to start typing my first heart to heart letter this month to you about what’s on my mind. I want to revenge, someone didn’t reply my text, and was thinking how good it will be if the person would text me and I decide to payback by not replying. I just realized how it’s weighing on my thought and am mad at everyone for no reason. I am texting the person again right now. (Pause to send Text). What’s with the change in attitude, I Just realized that the individual am mad at probably didn’t see my message or didn’t have airtime or other unknown reasons. All I have to do now is to wait and see if the individual will reply my second text.

Genesis 21:22-24
“If people are fighting and hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, and bruise for bruise."

Today you will hear many quoting this context for justification. I want things done to others when we wrong them but if the same was to be administered to me, I would beg to be pardoned. I have come to recognize what great men had identified, “that two wrongs don’t makes things right”. Just because someone destroyed your phone does not mean when you destroy the individual phone you will have your phone working. You don’t have to revenge since that will not change you status.

Luke 6:29
"If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them."

Hard teaching right? But Jesus demonstrated what he taught. Luke 22:47-51 John 18:10 Jesus heals the ear of one of the soldier who came to arrest him. Jesus should have rejoiced that Peter has defended him and injured his enemy but he does the opposite, offers to heal the soldier, what? The man Jesus shows our purpose on earth as Christian. We are to do the unimaginable, going extra mile and healing the wounds of them that have persecuted us. Offering help to those who have despised us in the past. Paul says that vengeance belongs to God.

Romans 12:19-21
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

That how will make the world better. Nation are fighting Nation as a result of wanting to revenge. What if we decided to forgive?
